Tuğba was in Istanbul on November 12-13, representing Alakır Nehri Kardeşliği at the Climate Change Forum to say “We Are Here, Too!” They have been battling for life in Alakır Valley for the last 10 years.
Even though she comes to Istanbul once in a blue moon, she didn’t return home without visiting Roma Community Garden.
She had brought seeds for broad beans and peas from Alakır, as well as honeysuckle and philadelphus seedlings she propagated herself, to pretty up the garden.
We now have a bush that will have great white flowers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphus
and a climber with a wonderful perfume: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeysuckle
After we left the garden, we attended the press briefing of Climate Change Forum, during which the march was prohibited, and we standed in homage for the ones lost their lives in Paris.
Saying “Peace against war, life against death,” we planted our seeds and seedlings.
We learned about the divine gifts of earth, and many more from Tuğba again.
